DHF School Horses We've Sold
“All horses deserve, at least once in their lives, to be loved by a little girl.” – Anonymous
This page will introduce you to former DHF school horses who have moved to private homes. Jen Truett is very careful to sell school horses while they're still happy in their work. She doesn't want them to ever become sour or unhappy with their jobs. As with the Performance horses, Jen works very hard to match horse and rider perfectly, and based on clients' comments, she's done a wonderful job so far. Some of her clients have sent in testimonials about their purchase experience and their joy in their new horses. Those are here: Dancing Partners' Testimonials All photos are copyright DHF except for the ones labeled "www.BobTarr.com" - those are used with permission.
Snickerdoodle DHF, a 1995 pinto pony mare, was a trail horse named "Little Mare" when Jen found her. She had only galloped on trails and had no dressage training at all, but she took to it very well, as you can see. She was a great school pony, a real favorite of students and teachers alike. Kim Tikijian of Zionsville IN bought her and she now enjoys living on a private farm.
Oreo DHF is a 1994 Pinto Percheron/Quarter Horse cross gelding and DHF's original lesson horse. He was originally purchased early in Jen and Lenny Truett's marriage as a "safe" horse for Lenny. He became a marvelous school horse and was a lot of fun to ride. He was sold to Julie Martin of Morrow OH who uses him to ride to hounds. We hear he's very happy in his new job!
One day someone called Jen, who loves ponies, and asked if she might be interested in a 2005 9-hand Miniature/Shetland gelding. Jen went to see him and thought he was just adorable, so of course, he moved to DHF and was stabled with Fancy. Jen taught Joker to drive, but he was too small to be a school pony. He was always good at providing DHF family entertainment! When Jen's mom's friend, Candi Farmer of Shirley IN wanted a mini as a companion to her aging Arabian, she bought him.
Zoe DHF, a 1968 pinto pony mare, was one of DHF's original lesson ponies. She loved all the children and was totally bomb-proof, having been part of the "Blue Jacket" outdoor theater performances with guns going off over her head every performance. She left us for Stillwater Stables, Wilmington OH, where she was loved for the rest of her life.
