Sophie Bayer is a USDF Bronze, Silver and Gold medalist, and a USEF "r" judge.
Sophie has ridden for over 25 years. She started in the hunter/jumper discipline but then quickly changed to eventing. Her first horse was an off the track thoroughbred named Out and About who she trained and successfully competed through training level. She enjoyed eventing, but found the discipline and focus required by dressage to be intriguing. After a few years, she changed her training focus to exclusively dressage. Together, they trained and showed through the levels through Intermediare I earning Sophie her USDF bronze and silver medals along the way.
Sophie successfully brought along her own Dutch gelding, Red (pictured), from unstarted to Grand Prix in 2021. She is excited about her new partner, Windfall, a 2018 Hanoverian gelding she plans to begin showing in 2022.
In 2012, Sophie completed the USDF “L” Education program and graduated "with distinction." This earned her the privilege of judging at schooling shows. Then in 2015, she completed the USEF “r” program. As a USEF “r” judge, she is certified to judge at USEF recognized shows through second level and at USEA events. She is currently in the USEF "R" judges program. Sophie found both of these programs to be very educational and enjoys sharing the knowledge that she gained with her students.
Sophie began riding with Jen and moved to DHF as Jen's Assistant in 2015. She has trained with numerous trainers and clinicians over the years and she works to combine the best knowledge that she has gathered from various people in her teaching. She continues to educate herself, works to improve her skills and always enjoys finding the right exercise to help a student/horse combination improve.
